What is the Green Match Fund?

“Our Green Match Fund aims to support charities playing a vital role in tackling pressing environmental issues.

Whether that’s preserving ecosystems, protecting endangered species or promoting sustainable living, every donation will make double the difference in the global effort to protect and preserve our planet.”

About Green Match Fund

The Green Match Fund utilises our Multi Model of match funding. Environmental charities apply to Big Give and can select either the 1:1 or Pledge Model of match funding. Their application is assessed by Big Give and our partners, Environmental Funders Network (EFN). Successful charities are awarded a sum of match funding which is ring-fenced for their organisation. This match funding is unlocked by public donations given through Big Give’s online fundraising platform during the week of the campaign.

Gower Good Food Festival

Promoting local produce from the Gower Peninsula, South Wales, in a series of festivals celebrating and encouraging sustainable living and being conscious of where our food comes from, focusing on access to healthy locally grown foods within our own communities.

Situation

There is a lack of awareness of the importance of local food, but also where and how to access healthy, locally grown, quality food, both from consumers and food and drinks businesses. Many of our eating habits have a huge environmental impact though unsustainable farming practices, using food out-of-season, the carbon footprint associated with transporting food businesses etc. So these markets would help provide a platform for local food businesses to showcase more sustainable options.

Solution

We will be running a series Gower Good Food Festivals to promote local food producers to visitors, people of the local area and food and drinks businesses in our area. We will use these events to promote healthy eating, environmentally conscious food choices, local food and sustainable living. These markets would help provide a platform for local food businesses to showcase more sustainable and healthy options to people within our local community, more importantly to the young people in our area.

Campaign Aims

Promoting Sustainable Living

Supporting Local Growers

Encouraging Sustainable Agricultural Practices

Educating the Public About Health Eating

Reduce Carbon Footprint

Campaign Budget

£5,000 – Funding the Project

£5,000 – Funding the Project

Understanding the Target

The project will continue and the funds will be used towards it anyway.

Impact

Our work will impact the local community by helping to provide a platform for local food producers to be able to sell directly to people within our community. It will also impact the local community by helping them to be conscious about what they are eating and where they are buying from promoting healthier eating choices.

“The Gower Good Food markets will be a great way to showcase local food and produce”
