Key Stage Three & Key Stage Four The Heritage Centre is well placed to cater for Secondary age children, with a wide range of visit options available to suit varying curriculum needs. The guided tours of the Centre focus on the power of water, and how it enabled the Mill to develop as a centre for all sorts of traditional crafts that were essential to daily life over the centuries. Pupils will see demonstrations of flour-making and even hear how our language has been affected by expressions originating in the Miller's craft. The Mill also houses a sawmill, where planks were cut and a wheelwright's shop, where cartwheels were made. The blacksmith also worked here, shoeing horses and forging metal rims for the cartwheels. We also offer a
range of local Guided Walks, which can focus on the geography, geology
or history of the area. We can take you to places such as the besanded
ruins of Pennard Castle, Three Cliffs Bay and its winding river and
rare habitats, local lime kilns, the Neolithic burial chamber of Green
Cwm or the burial cairn at King Arthur's Stone. |
