ST DWYNWEN'S WEEKEND

Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th 10.00am - 4.00pm

Learn all about St Dwynwen the 5th Century Welsh Saint popularly known as the Welsh St Valentine. St Dwynwen was a beautiful Welsh princess whose tragic story of unforefilled love became a legend and inspiration to all those seeking friendship and true love. Join our re-enactment group Brodyr Baeddwen as they present a weekend of demonstrations about the feast of St Dwynwen and other Welsh Celtic customs.

The weekend includes: " Display of traditional Welsh crafts, foods and customs " Weave your own baskets and wicker hearts " Make a St Dwynwen's day card " Jewellery making " Make a sacred fish " See the re-enactors battle for Dwynwen " Love spoon carving " And lots more...

 

 

PIRATE WEEK

Saturday 11th - Sunday 19th - 11am - 5.00pm

Lots of swashbuckling pirate fun including: a free bouncy castle, meet our fearsome pirates, pan for pirate gold, pirate themed cartoons in Wales' smallest cinema La Charrette, story telling, pirate crafts and much more!!

CELTIC WEEK

Thursday 1st - Sunday 11th - 10.00am - 5.00pm

A celebration of St David & Celtic traditions in traditions in Gower .

 

EASTER FUN

Saturday 31st March - Sunday 15th April - 10am - 4pm

A fun day out for the whole family. With lots for everyone to do including: bunny hunts, Easter crafts, Easter colouring competitions, visit our Woollen Mill and have a go at felting , spinning and carding , pottery workshops, animal handling and feeding and lots more... Not forgetting our infamous duck races!!

GOWER FOLK FESTIVAL

Friday 8th - Sunday 10th - - 11am - 11pm

The Gower Folk Festival returns to the Gower Heritage Centre, keep checking our website for this years line up.

 

CORACLE FISHING WEEKEND

Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th - 11am - 3pm

See this old Welsh fishing boat being put through its paces, learn about the history of the coracle and how it is made and even have a go yourself.

Join us for a celebration of accoustic music

 

August

MEDIEVAL FUN WEEK

Monday 30th July - Sunday 5th August - 11am - 5.00pm

Learn about Medieval life with our resident Medieval re-enactment group 'Brodyr Baeddwen', see Medieval clothes, equipment, potions and cures, have a go at some Medieval crafts, meet our knight, lady and jester and lots more!

 

COUNTRY GAMES DAY

Wednesday 8th - 10.00a.m - 5.00pm

Have you ever played "INKY PINKY", "DUCKSTONE" or tried your hand at "GURNING" and "HORSESHOE THROWING" Let us show you how to entertain your kids using some old fashioned country customs. You will be amazed at how much you can enjoy yourself without having to use a computer game consol!

Visitors can also go on a treasure hunt to find the hidden brandy of Mr Will The Mill the former owner of the Watermill at the Heritage Centre who was reputed to hide smuggled brandy in his Mill to supply the local village. Oh yes and Inky Pinky - well that involves a lot of egg smashing - and Duckstone - this is Gower's version of the French game of Boules - and if your going Gurning you must bring your camera!!

 

 

BEACH FUN DAY

Wednesday 15th - - 11am - 4pm

The Gower Heritage Centre brings you all the fun of the beach come rain or shine. With lots for the whole family to enjoy including; sandcastle competitions, limbo competitions, beach themed craft, beach themed cartoons in Wales' smallest cinema La Charrette, beach themed colouring and more!

 

PIRATE WEEK

Saturday 25th - Saturday 1st September - 10am - 4pm

Lots of swashbuckling pirate fun including: a free bouncy castle, meet our fearsome pirates, pan for pirate gold,treasure hunts , pirate themed cartoons in Wales' smallest cinema La Charrette, story telling, pirate crafts and much more!!

GOWER BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL

GOWER CIDER WEEKEND

Saturday 13th - Sunday 14th

Cider making demonstrations using apples from our own orchard .Using a traditional 150 year old working cider press.

 

 

HALLOWEEN PARTY NIGHTS

Monday 29th - Wednesday 31st - 6pm - 9pm

Our annual Halloween party night returns with lots of spooky goings-on including a spooky disco, screaming competitions, fancy dress competitions for adults and children, dancing competitions, pumpkin carving, bat hunts, story telling and more. This event sells out quickly so pre booking is essential.

SANTA ARRIVES

Sunday 25th - Sunday 23rd - 12pm - 4:30pm

Santa arrives at the Gower Heritage Centre, visit him in his grotto and receive a gift every weekend from 12pm - 4:30pm. Also our fresh Christmas trees our on sale from today.
