Meet our Blacksmith, Arwel John

Arwel started playing with fire & steel at an early age, and moved on to study for a degree in metallurgy, shortly after he became a Design and Technology teacher. Arwel has since left this profession to become a full time blacksmith where he now forges metal into both useful items, and beautiful decorative pieces; such as gates & railings, knives & axes, as well as the odd sculpture and once, an ornate crown!

He can usually be found in the old Smithy next to reception, but if not he will be restoring our antique machinery back to its original glory. Arwel is also a gifted Wood-turner, and can be regularly seen on the lathe turning out anything from tool handles and curtain poles to bird boxes and clothes pegs!

Rogan Glass

Rob Duggan is self employed and his Rogan Glass Studio is now based at Gower Heritage Centre .This is where he designs and creates his glass gifts and Murano inspired glass jewellery which includes, glass pendants, glass paperweights, collectable glass marbles, and figurines. The majority of his work is now made from Borosilicate glass which is proven to be more robust. Borosilicate glass is the same glass used in Pyrex ovenware and plane lights.

Occasionally he uses Bullseye glass which is a softer glass for his lamp work beads and earrings. All of his handmade designs in the collection are 'Unique' one off pieces. The pieces of jewellery are individually designed and will enhance any outfit. As the items are not mass produced, you can be rest assured knowing that your friends and colleagues will not be wearing an identical piece to that function or party. If there is something special you have in mind you would like Rob to create for you, please get in touch to discuss your requirements.
